Lewiston’s Tree
Streets Residents
From the very beginning of this community-led work in 2013, residents of Lewiston's Tree Streets neighborhood have pushed to see the change they knew was possible for the Tree Streets. Without their efforts, none of this work would have been possible.
In partnership with the City, policymakers, funders, service providers, and others, Tree Streets residents have crafted a vision for the future for their neighborhood.
Despite destructive stereotypes of this neighborhood, its people, and all of Lewiston, Tree Streets residents continue to push to have a seat at the table and to have a voice among those with power. Your community is proud to stand with you in this work.
Thank you.
Thank you
When it comes to organizing people from one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Maine, Healthy Neighborhoods continues to be a key leader in helping to make that happen.
Since 2004, the group that evolved into Healthy Neighborhoods has worked hard to have a voice in the halls of power in Lewiston. The idea for applying for the initial funding that launched the Choice Neighborhood Initiative work in Lewiston was their idea. The investment we’ve seen - and the stronger our community has become - is in large part due to Healthy Neighborhoods’ relationships, persistence, care, and voices.
Thank you, Healthy Neighborhoods. The Tree Streets Neighborhood and our whole community owe you a debt of gratitude.
Partners & Funders
These efforts are possible thanks to the coalition of partners who have supported this movement from the ground up. We are grateful to their commitment to Lewiston, our Tree Streets neighborhood, and the people of Lewiston.
